Boulder City, Nevada

Gateway to historic Hoover Dam and home of Afternoon Breeze.

Boulder City was initially created to house the workers who built Hoover Dam, and as such, was a significant and integral part of the successful completion of the Boulder Canyon Project. Constructed in 1931 in the midst of the Great Depression, Boulder City was conceived by the Federal Government as an ideal town, a "model" city to which the American people could look for hope of a better future.

Today, Boulder City is known as a clean, green oasis in the desert. Located just 20 miles from the glitter and excitement of Las Vegas and just a few miles from the grandeur of Hoover Dam. The city offers a quiet, small town, relaxed living environment with historic charm and sidewalk cafes, but also widely recognized for its dedication to public art and sculpture.

Afternoon Breeze was commissioned as part of the Boulder City permanent sculpture collection and stands at the intersection of historic Nevada Way and Arizona Street. She is one of the many sculptures, murals and historic artifacts on display throughout the downtown area.

Visit their official website for numerous art and city events scheduled throughout the year and when in town, be sure not to miss the historic hotel and museum, both an experience back in time you will never forget.
